My Father (Joseph Clark Davis) remembered her as being a no-nonsense, down to earth woman. However, she broke into laughter when dad overheard how she & her daughter had to walk a log way into town to get a big wood stove. She talked about the long, long walk to the store.
Dad, was a child, and he asked her..'Well, Grandmother..
how long did it take you to walk home carrying the stove?'
